As its name stands for ‘inter-laken’, the city is between Lake Thun from the west and Lake Brienz from the east and crossed by the Aare river connecting both lakes. Also, the Lütschine river outflowing from the mountains and crossing the town to the south and the town is 570 meters above the sea level. This location gives Interlaken an oceanic and changeable climate.
