Buen Retiro Park is one of the largest and most preferred attractions in the heart of Madrid.

The landscape dates back to Philip IV reign. At that time it contained only a french style garden however the successive kings and queens ameliorated the garden and turned it into an open air museum. Today, the Buen Retiro Park is fulfilled with sculptures, colorful gardens, charming lakes and galleries inviting visitors to discover their treasures.

The most loved attraction in the park is the artificial lake and the monuments showing a semicircular colonnade and a statue of king Alfonso XII on top of a central core. In the park, stands a splendid glass building used to conserve plants and turned into a magnificent gallery. Another feature is “The Ejercito museum”. It’s an important army museum housing a cross of Christopher Columbus during his discovery of the new world and the sword of Spain loved warrior El Cid.

Visitors are impressed by the “cason del buen retiro” where unique collection of 19th and 20th century are displayed. The fountain of the Falling Angel is a magnificent monument of Buen Retiro park. The landscape is home to other attractions such as the Palacio de Velazquez boasting temporary exhibitions and the “Paseo De la Argentina” a beautiful garden decorated by kings statues.
