Gran Via is an avenue showing early 20th century architectural styles.

The project was planned in mid 19th century with contribution of most talented architected of the era to link between the Plaza de Espana and Calle de Alcala. The realisation of plans didn’t start until 1904 and was finished in 1929 which explains its name the great road.

As you walk through the popular avenue, you will cross a plethora of fabulous large buildings including theatres, hotels and city’s landmarks. One of the most impressive construction is undoubtedly the Edificio Metropolis by a design of ects Jules and Raymond Février. The 88m tower of the Telefónica is another eye catching building in the Gran Via. Close to Plaza de Espana, you cross a charming square called the Plaza del Callao. It’s a great movie theater hub with six developped theater.

The plaza de Espana at the end of the avenue is a magnificent square flanked by skyscrapers.
