The Museo del Prado dates back to 1814, when king Fernando VII wanted to found a museum as fabulous as the Louvre in Paris. It’s divided to two wings: The villanueva housing most of the works and the cason del buen retiro.

The museum contains more than 7000 art pieces only 1500 are displayed. It’s the top cultural site in Spain and a must visit. Taking a close look at the stunning masterpieces and appreciating the Spanish soul in paintings is a unique experience of Museo del Prado.

At Museo del prado, you will marvel at the largest collection of Spanish art such as Velasquez “Las meninas” showing princess Margarita and the painter, “The Naked Maja”of Goya whose statue stands in front of the museum.
