Museum of Arts and Crafts

The Museum of Arts and Crafts is a museum of fine arts in the center of Hamburg, near the Hauptbahnhof station.


Founded by the jurist Justus Brinckmann in 1877, the Museum of Arts and Crafts or ‘Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg’ is ranked as one of the most comprehensive exhibitions of art (German, European, and Asian) in the country.

There are interesting displays of varied collections:  Antiques, weapons, statues, crafts, book art, graphic art and designs of Islamic and the Far Eastern cultures. It’s a big and captivating museum that can take you the whole day to explore all its corners.

Don’t miss the historic keyboard instruments, the furniture by Paul Gauguin and Henri van de Velde, the 17th and 18th century  porcelain collection, the Art Nouveau exhibitions and sculptures, The historical islam amazing pieces and the work arts and sculptures of the modern collection.

There are multilingual private guided tours where over 500,000 works are explained and you may interfere with comments and notes and exchange information with the guide as well as other tourists.
