The Swiss National Museum is one of the most important art museums of history in Europe. Settled near the Hauptbahnhof of Zurich, the museum belongs to the Musée Suisse Group.
The museum was built over 100 year ago, in the form of French Renaissance city chateaus. It reminds of a fairytale castle.
Many departments compose the Swiss National Museum but all of them are under one theme: The history of Switzerland from the prehistory and ancient ages to the present.
There are collections of legacies of art and crafts, mundane everyday objects, classic gothic art, modern art, sculptures, coins, Swiss furnishings… Visitors will explore the Swiss heritage and interesting historical facts.
Sometimes, the museum hosts important events and temporary exhibitions that focus on social issues.
