Victoria and Albert museum ( V&A)

The Victoria and Albert Museum or simply V&A is the world’s largest and most famous museum of art and design.

The Victoria and Albert Museum was founded in 1852 on the names of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Over an area of 12.5 acres, the museum houses 145 galleries and a permanent collections of over 4.5 million objects.  

The museum exhibits items from ancient time to present, spanning 5000 years of art. Among them furniture, ceramics, textiles, costumes, drawings, photography, prints, painting, sculpture, glass, silver, jewelry, theatre and performance items and musical instruments.

Medieval objects and contemporary art, UK’s national collections and precious masterpieces from all around the world, the collections presented are among the most comprehensive in the world.

The department of Asia is very impressive. It contains art from China, Japan, Korea, regions of east and south Asia and Islamic collection. The collections are among the most notable in the world.

The V&A museum is located in South Kensington, near to a group of museums such as the Natural History museum and the Science museum.
